What saved me with hfm was setting a hard daily max loss and a trade cap - most damage came from overtrading, not single trades. I still risk 1–2% per position, but I only scale up after 30–50 trades show positive expectancy

You can also use proper stop loss to cut these losing trades earlier in my opinion rather than waiting for losing 1-2 %.
